I happened to be browsing the internet in a food-related way, and came upon the revelation that not only does Baltimore seem to have bald guys… their bald guys seem to be pretty talented where it comes to creating delicious food.
Take Rodney Henry of Dangerously Delicious Pies for example.
According to the National Examiner, in early June, the Food Network was in Baltimore filming Road Tasted with the Neelys, and happened to choose to feature Henry and his Dangerously Delicious Pies. The show was filmed at the Light Street location, and aired today.
This prompted me to check out his site, and his pies, which (incidentally are available shipped to you for $30 plus the cost of the pie) if descriptions are enough to go on… are, well… dangerously delicious.
But why, when I can’t sniff nor scratch the pies, am I writing about him?
I don’t know. Maybe it’s because the idea that some gruff looking bald guy is in the kitchen baking up something as tasty as his Chocolate Chess Pie?
Maybe it’s because Duff Goldman, Mr. Ace of Cakes himself, is also a gruff looking bald guy… whipping up cakes that would best anything Martha Stewart could come up with.
I rather enjoy it when someone breaks a stereotype, and it seems both of these burly fellows have done just that!
I might even have to pay the $30.00 and order me up a pie.
Chocolate Chess, here I come.
Or maybe I should skip chocolate for once and try the Rhubarb… or the Sweet Potato?
What am I, nuts?
Chocolate Chess it is!

Mmmmmm…. I like pie!….
………….but I heart bald guys!
I’m not sure why, but I’m dangerously obsessed with the Ace of Cakes show…I think part of it is the level of entertainment I get from watching a man who seemingly has no business even stepping foot into a kitchen create those masterpieces.
I can only imagine what his friends must have thought the first time he confessed his true ambitions in life…
LOL Olga… you heart bald guys? Must be because you’re smart enough to be able to compare Patrick Stewart and William Shatner and realize one (hairy Canadian) doesn’t stand a chance against the other.
The Rev. – Funny how that happens, isn’t it? I enjoy watching what they come up with too. Did you see that show where they did a cake for the UN (or Unicef or something) and the housekeeping staff in the hotel they were at ATE the cake they needed to finish the display? That was a hoot.
Like Rev, I’m also a fan of the Ace of Cakes show… I get the kick out of watching people going all out to make their dreams a reality. The bald part just makes them stand out!
Trust me, it’s great inspiration at times. Especially when you’re close to giving up on yours.
Cheers,
Ericia
I agree. Some of the stuff they come up with is quite remarkable.
