This is a pin-worthy event if ever there was one. Fraccers… all of them!

Screen cap of google trends showing searches for Patrick Swayze died rising to the top of the list. It's not true. When news of Swayze’s cancer first came out, blogs and websites jumped on the news, declaring him dead for the hits.

Again, tonight, Google Trends shows an ‘On Fire’ rating for search terms that include ‘patrick swayze dead’, ‘patrick swayze died’ and anything remotely similar.

It seems people are only too eager to title their posts as if Patrick Swayze has died, simply because it’s ranking high on the google trends list.

Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves.

As of the time of this posting, there are no reports of Patrick Swayze having died, there are only reports that he is and intends to continue to fight the disease. He recently checked himself into the hospital, but for observation only, due to developing pneumonia. Chemotherapy weakens a person’s immune system, and subsequent illnesses are common.

He’s gone on the record upset with those who have been quick to minimize his chances at survival. Mike Scogin of the Georgetown News-Graphic, quoting Swayze, wrote:

Swayze expressed anger at some in the media who proclaimed him dead once the news leaked out.

“Hope is what you’ve got,” he said.

Doctors will tell you that without hope and a positive attitude, there is no treatment for cancer. Hope will drive you to get up in the morning and to endure the poisons that are used to fight the demon disease.

They say pancreatic cancer is the “worst” cancer although after watching Mom suffer with lung cancer I cannot fathom anything “worse.” We are all probably splitting hairs.

There is no “good” cancer. It consumes your body and the only way to fight it is to destroy your body in an effort to control its growth. Treatments for cancer can steal your spirit so it takes incredibly strong people, and a strong support circle, just to get through it.

And he’s right. I’ve taken others to task for writing misleading headlines in an attempt to capitalize off his illness. This time is no different.

Kudos to Celebgalz for having the guts to take the fraccy approach to this sickening trend. I agree. He needs support and prayers, not false reports of his death.

Fracas wishes Patrick and his family, nothing but strength, hope and good wishes for a recovery and a long life ahead. As a story, it might not get as many hits, but it’s the only story that anyone should really be wishing for.

As for the rest of them… I’ll be working overtime with the fraccers doll.
