We’ve all seen that one where there’s a paragraph that’s all jumbled up and yet, we’re still able to read it because we read words not by one letter at a time, but by the word as a whole. (Which actually gives a really good reason for those who have trouble spelling. Next time they’re being teased about it, all they have to do is reply that they don’t need to burden themselves with spelling because they’re a whole word kind of reader!)

But I digress. I do that a lot…

Here’s one example of the kind of paragraph I’m talking about. There are others… this is the one I’m using.

The paomnnehel pweor of the hmuan mnid

Aoccdrnig to rseearch, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

I’m sure by this point, you’re thinking to yourself, “So what? I’ve seen this before, why does she think it’s worth a blog post?”

It’s ok. I’d be thinking that too, except for that I know why I’m writing this post.

You see, I came across this tool that allows you to enter any URL and it will turn the entire webpage into the equivalent of that paragraph so that you can see just how phenomenal your mind is… and whether or not you’re easily able to still follow the content on that page or not.

It’s wicked good.

Try it.

Use http://fraccers.com or http://fracas.wordpress.com as your sample. If you like, you might even try http://daddypapersurfer.com next. Heck… his site sometimes is difficult enough to understand with the letters in the right order, so maybe… maybe this tool will actually make his site one with the universe again.*

One can only hope.

* I am, of course, just teasing the old git. We really all do love his unique brand of humour… just don’t tell him that; it may go to his head.

  1. Ooooo – that’s fun.

I must get my eyes tested – there’s a line at the end of your post I just can’t read …… even spelt incorrectly ……

lol, I just checked mine. There’s a few lines of words in my blog that even I can’t scan and read easily. I think that it’s a good way to determine if your rhetoric needs to come down a notch.

If I reworded those same lines, then chances are they’d be more readable in this format. Cute tool, Fracas.

DaddyP – Don’t worry your pretty self about that… (snigger)

John – I agree, DaddyP is a ‘cute tool’. (BIG snigger)
